The R.M. Tarot

The R.M. Tarot (the Red Magician's Tarot) is a 78-card deck constructed in the traditional format of five suits - the 22 Major Arcana and the Minor Arcana of Wands, Cups, Swords and Disks. An original, full color collage illustrates each card along with its number and title. Drawing inspiration from dream imagery and influenced by a range of artistic movements, visually this deck is a syncretization of ancient and contemporary.
Originally, the R.M. Tarot was created for my own personal use. However, as I shared the imagery with friends and other tarot enthusiasts, many began to inquire about obtaining their own copies. Luckily, a successful crowdfunding campaign via Kickstarter provided me with enough money to produce a limited edition of 100 decks.
Ironically, I hadn't planned on making an entire tarot deck on my own! What began in 2011 as small experiments of collage on artist trading cards developed into the personal challenge of creating a deck that reflected my own understanding of the tarot. Having used various decks over the years, I'd reached a point where I was no longer satisfied with others' cards. I felt that I needed something more personal and the only way to get it was to make my own. Happily, collage turned out to be the perfect medium for me. After three and a half years, the R.M. Tarot was completed and available to others in a limited edition.
